Anda Resort Koh Lipe: A Traditional Beachfront Escape with Prime Location

I’ve stayed at Anda Resort on Koh Lipe, and while it wasn’t the most mind-blowing experience, it certainly provided a comfortable base for exploring this beautiful island. The resort offers that classic Thai/Bali style with darker wood elements that I personally like in beach accommodations. (They always seem just that little bit cooler) Let me share my first-hand experience and insights about this beachfront property.

Resort Overview and First Impressions

Anda Resort Koh Lipe sits directly on Sunrise Beach, offering guests immediate access to one of the island’s most beautiful stretches of sand. The resort features traditional Balinese’s – Thai-style bungalows and buildings with those darker wood elements that give it an authentic feel compared to some of the more modern options on the island.

In my opinion, Anda Resort strikes a good balance between comfort and that laid-back island atmosphere you want when visiting Koh Lipe. When I stayed here, they had a triple room that perfectly fitted the bill for our small group. The overall experience was enjoyable, though nothing about the resort blew me away – but I wasn’t left feeling disappointed either.

The property is well-maintained with tropical gardens surrounding the accommodations, creating a peaceful environment despite being close to more bustling areas of the island.

Accommodation Options 🏠

Anda Resort offers several room categories to suit different needs and budgets:

  • Superior Rooms – Comfortable rooms in the main building
  • Deluxe Rooms – More spacious accommodations with better views
  • Beachfront Bungalows – Direct beach access with private terraces
  • Family Rooms – Larger options for groups or families (including the triple room I stayed in)

The rooms feature traditional Thai design elements with those darker wood furnishings I mentioned earlier. Each room comes equipped with:

  • Air conditioning
  • Private bathroom with hot shower
  • Television
  • Refrigerator
  • Free WiFi
  • Balcony or terrace

During my stay, I found the room comfortable and clean, if not particularly luxurious. The beds were firm but comfortable enough, and the air conditioning worked well – an absolute necessity in Thailand’s heat!

Location and Accessibility 🗺️

One of Anda Resort’s strongest selling points is undoubtedly its location. The resort sits directly on Sunrise Beach, one of Koh Lipe’s three main beaches. In terms of convenience, you really can’t beat it:

  • Beachfront access: Step directly onto the soft sands of Sunrise Beach
  • Walking Street proximity: Just a 5-minute walk to the island’s main shopping and dining area
  • Other beaches: 10-15 minute walk to Pattaya Beach or Sunset Beach if you fancy a change of scenery
  • Convenience stores: Several within a 5-minute walk

As I discovered during my stay, this central location makes it incredibly easy to explore the entire island without needing any transportation. The location is great, close to Walking Street and all the other beaches if you fancy a change – this was definitely one of the resort’s highlights for me.

Facilities and Amenities 🏊‍♂️

Swimming Pool

The resort features a decent-sized swimming pool surrounded by a wooden deck. The pool area was nice although there’s not a great amount of sun loungers considering the size of the resort. Most of the time we were at the beach anyway, which is literally steps away and far more impressive than any pool could be.

Restaurant and Dining

Anda Resort has an on-site restaurant serving:

  • Breakfast (included in most room rates)
  • Thai cuisine
  • International dishes
  • Seafood specialties
  • Beverages and cocktails

Breakfast was ok to fairly decent if a little uninspiring. It offered the typical breakfast fare that you get in many hotels and resorts of this standard – a mix of Western and Asian options including eggs, toast, fruit, rice dishes, and coffee/tea.

For other meals, the restaurant serves decent food, though I found myself exploring the many excellent dining options along Walking Street more often than eating at the resort.

Other Amenities

  • Beach bar
  • Tour desk for booking island excursions
  • Massage services
  • Free WiFi throughout the property

Beach Experience 🏝️

Having direct access to Sunrise Beach is truly one of Anda Resort’s best features. As the name suggests, this eastern-facing beach offers spectacular sunrise views for early risers. The beach itself features:

  • Soft white sand
  • Crystal clear turquoise water
  • Good swimming conditions
  • Some decent snorkeling spots not far from shore
  • Beach massage services

During my stay, I spent most days on the beach rather than at the pool. The water is incredibly clear, and the beach never felt overcrowded, even during high season.

Value Assessment 💰

The main deciding factor for me on considering this hotel would be price. I got a pretty good deal during my stay, however the resort is in a similar price category to Ananya Lipe Resort, Sita Beach Resort, and Mali Resort Sunrise Beach to name but a few – resorts that have stronger reviews overall.

Here’s how Anda Resort compares to some similar options on Koh Lipe:

ResortLocationRoom QualityFacilitiesPrice RangeBest For
Anda ResortSunrise Beach★★★☆☆★★★☆☆$$-$$$Beach access, traditional style
Ananya Lipe ResortNear Walking Street★★★★☆★★★★☆$$-$$$Modern amenities, central location
Sita Beach ResortSunrise Beach★★★★☆★★★★☆$$-$$$Luxury experience, better dining
Mali ResortSunrise Beach★★★★☆★★★☆☆$$-$$$Boutique experience, better service

In my experience, Anda Resort represents reasonable value when you can find a good deal, but at full rates, some of the alternatives might offer better overall experiences.

Who Should Stay Here? 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Anda Resort is particularly well-suited for:

  • Beach lovers who prioritize direct beach access
  • Travelers who appreciate traditional Thai design rather than ultra-modern aesthetics
  • Visitors wanting easy access to Walking Street without being in the middle of the noise
  • Groups or families needing multiple room options
  • Budget-conscious travelers (when deals are available)

It might be less ideal for:

  • Luxury travelers seeking high-end amenities
  • Those wanting a more secluded, private experience
  • People prioritizing exceptional on-site dining

Seasonal Considerations 🌦️

Koh Lipe has distinct high and low seasons that affect your experience at Anda Resort:

High Season (November to April)

  • Perfect weather conditions
  • Higher rates at Anda Resort
  • Busier beaches and facilities
  • All services and restaurants fully operational

Shoulder Season (May and October)

  • Good value periods with decent weather
  • Some afternoon showers possible
  • Less crowded
  • Slightly reduced rates

Low Season (June to September)

  • Significant discounts available
  • Some heavy rainfall and rougher seas
  • Fewer tourists
  • Some island businesses may close

I visited during high season, which guaranteed perfect weather but came with higher prices. If you’re flexible with your travel dates, the shoulder seasons can offer excellent value while still providing a good experience.

Tips from My Experience 💡

Based on my stay at Anda Resort, here are some practical tips:

“Request a room away from Walking Street if you’re a light sleeper. The music can carry across the island at night.”

“The beachfront rooms are worth the splurge if you can afford them – waking up to that view is incredible.”

“Bring your own beach towel as the resort’s towels are basic and not always plentiful.”

“Book island tours through independent operators on Walking Street rather than through the resort for better prices.”

“The resort’s WiFi can be spotty in some rooms – if you need reliable internet, consider a local SIM card.”

Final Thoughts

Overall, my stay at Anda Resort was pleasant and comfortable, if not extraordinary. The traditional Thai styling, excellent location, and direct beach access are definite positives. The pool area is nice though limited in loungers, and the breakfast is adequate without being memorable.

For me, Anda Resort falls into the “good but not great” category – a solid option when the price is right. If you find a good deal here, it provides a comfortable base for exploring the beauty of Koh Lipe, with everything you need and nothing you don’t.

Would I stay again? Possibly, but I’d also consider some of the other options in a similar price bracket that might offer a more memorable experience. That said, if you appreciate traditional Thai design and prioritize location above all else, Anda Resort remains a worthy contender for your Koh Lipe accommodation.

The main takeaway from my experience is that Anda Resort offers good value when priced competitively, and its location is truly hard to beat. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need for a relaxing island getaway! 🌴
